Cyprus ship registry reaches 25-year high following 27 percent growth
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli announced that the Cyprus ship registry has reached its highest level in twenty-five years. Speaking at a promotional reception in Tokyo, Japan, she reported a 27 percent increase in registrations since September 2023.
Hadjimanoli attributed this growth to sustained efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the Cypriot flag and modernize services for shipowners and operators. She emphasized that the international shipping community maintains strong confidence in the registry due to its robust safety performance and efficient regulatory framework. The Ministry aims to ensure that companies operating under the Cypriot flag benefit from a stable, transparent, and predictable environment.
Moving forward, the government plans to continue simplifying administrative procedures and improving professional communication to maintain high-quality service standards. The Deputy Minister also highlighted Japan as a key strategic partner and expressed intentions to foster deeper maritime collaboration between the two nations.
