Super League introduces goal-line cameras and moves toward centralized broadcasting
The Greek Super League officially announced the implementation of goal-line camera technology starting from the 8th matchday, scheduled for October 24–25, 2026. This cost-effective solution, which avoids 3D rendering, is designed to assist referees in determining whether the ball has fully crossed the goal line. The system has previously been utilized on a trial basis, notably during the PAOK versus OFI Cup final, and in specific league matches such as Volos versus Iraklis and Panathinaikos versus Kifisia.
In addition to technical upgrades, the Super League Board of Directors held a meeting on October 16, 2026, where they unanimously agreed in principle to commission a study regarding the central management of broadcasting, internet, and commercial rights for the league. While the general scope was approved by majority vote, specific parameters and the final contract assignment remain pending. These details are expected to be finalized during a follow-up meeting next week. Furthermore, the league’s General Assembly unanimously approved the financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, and cleared the Board members of liability for that period.
