Alpha Bank opens monetary exhibition at the Leventis Municipal Museum

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia hosted the opening of the exhibition "Messages in Metal: A Timeless Dialogue with Cyprus." This temporary exhibition features a significant portion of the internationally recognized Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, marking the first time these items have been displayed in Cyprus. The collection is presented in dialogue with the museum's existing artifacts to illustrate the island's numismatic history.

The inauguration ceremony was led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides. Notable speakers included Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, A.G. Leventis Foundation Commissioner Fotini Papadopoulou, Alpha Bank Group Chairman Dimitris Tsitsiragos, and Alpha Bank Cyprus CEO Miltos Michaelas. Dr. Jenny Lyberopoulou Savvidou, Director of the Leventis Municipal Museum, coordinated the event, while exhibition curator Dr. Dimitra Tsangari provided an overview of the scientific and museological approach taken to organize the display. The initiative seeks to bridge historical monetary items from the bank's collection with the cultural heritage of Cyprus.
