Eighth arrest made in connection with assault of teenager in Latsia

Cypriot police arrested another 16-year-old suspect on October 16, 2026, in relation to the violent assault of a teenager of the same age, which took place in the Latsia area of the Nicosia district on October 9, 2026. This individual is the eighth person detained as part of an ongoing investigation by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Previously, on October 14, 2026, authorities arrested seven other individuals in connection with the incident. Following a court review, one person was released without charges, while the remaining six suspects were remanded in custody for five days by the Nicosia District Court. The newly arrested 16-year-old is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court today for a detention hearing. The police investigation into the circumstances of the attack remains active.
