Recent series of vehicle fires reported across Cyprus
Multiple vehicle fires have been reported across Cyprus between October 17 and October 19, 2026, leading to investigations by police and the Fire Service. On October 17 in Strovolos, Nicosia, a fire in a residential carport destroyed two cars and a motorcycle belonging to a 51-year-old. Subsequently, on October 18, 22 immobilized vehicles stored in an open lot in the Kaimakli industrial area of Nicosia were destroyed by fire, which was reported at 23:48 on October 17.
Most recently, on October 19 in Germasogeia, Limassol, two additional vehicles belonging to a 67-year-old and a 56-year-old were destroyed after fires broke out outside their respective homes around 01:20. In the Limassol incident, the Cyprus Times reports that witnesses observed two individuals in hoodies fleeing the scene, suggesting potential arson.
Authorities have cordoned off these locations to conduct forensic examinations. While the causes of the Nicosia industrial fire remain under investigation, officials plan to inspect a suspicious vehicle recently added to the Kaimakli site. The Limassol CID (TAE) continues to investigate the Germasogeia incident to determine if it constitutes a deliberate criminal act.
