Security guard arrested for thefts in Nicosia
On October 17, 2026, police in the Nicosia district arrested a 20-year-old security guard following a burglary and theft investigation. The case began on October 16, when a 43-year-old woman reported that cash totaling €1,360 and jewelry valued at €3,500 had been stolen from her apartment between June 25 and August 30, 2026.
Following his arrest, the suspect confessed to the burglary and identified the location where he had sold the stolen items. Additionally, he admitted to a second theft involving the removal of €3,000 from a safe located within the same building. Total estimated losses from both incidents amount to nearly €8,000.
Authorities from the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) are handling the investigation. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court to face a remand order request, as he is also expected to be rearrested in connection with the second theft case.
