Omonia secures impressive 3-0 victory over Celje in Europa League

Omonia Nicosia achieved a dominant 3-0 victory against Slovenian side Celje in the second round of the Europa League's league phase. Under the guidance of coach Henning Berg, the Cypriot team controlled the match throughout, utilizing effective vertical play to exploit defensive gaps. Goals were scored by Montnor, Tankovic, and a third unidentified contributor, securing a perfect start with six points from two games. This result places Omonia in sixth position among the ten teams that have successfully started their European campaign with two consecutive wins.

Following their return to Cyprus, Omonia is focusing on the upcoming domestic league clash against Olympiacos, scheduled for the following day at GSP Stadium. Coach Henning Berg is carefully managing his squad’s fitness as a high-profile encounter against Benfica in the third round of the Europa League looms just three days after the domestic match. Historically, Omonia has shown inconsistent performance when transitioning from European fixtures to local league play, recording four wins, four draws, and three losses in previous sequences. The team is currently working to maintain their momentum and concentration to ensure success in the national championship.
