Omonia secures impressive win against Celje and prepares for Olympiakos match

Omonia Nicosia achieved a commanding 3-0 victory over Slovenian side Celje on October 16, 2026, during the second round of the UEFA Europa League League Phase. The Cypriot team, managed by Henning Berg, dominated the match with goals resulting from precise offensive play. This win brings Omonia to six points in the competition, placing them among the top ten teams currently leading the table with a perfect start to their European campaign.

Following their return to Cyprus, the squad has shifted focus to the domestic Cyprus League by Stoiximan. Omonia is scheduled to face Olympiakos on October 19, 2026, at the GSP Stadium. While the team remains in high spirits, coach Henning Berg is emphasizing the need for squad rotation and careful management of player fatigue due to a rigorous schedule that includes an upcoming high-stakes match against Benfica in the Europa League. Statistical data suggests that balancing domestic and European commitments has proven challenging for the club in the past, with mixed results following previous international fixtures.
