Road accidents reported on Limassol-Nicosia highway and in central Nicosia
On October 18, 2026, multiple traffic accidents occurred on the Limassol–Nicosia motorway near Parekklisia and Agios Tychonas. The incidents included several multi-vehicle pile-ups involving four or five cars, which resulted in the temporary closure of the right traffic lane and caused significant congestion. Authorities were deployed to the scene to facilitate traffic and provide assistance, eventually reopening the affected lanes later in the day.
On October 19, 2026, a separate serious accident occurred on Pindarou Street in central Nicosia. An elderly female driver lost control of her vehicle, which struck two parked cars before crashing into the outdoor seating area of a cafe. Two individuals, identified as a patron and a pedestrian, sustained injuries and were transported to Nicosia General Hospital. Police and fire services responded to the scene, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding both the motorway pile-ups and the urban cafe incident are ongoing.
