Panathinaikos faces Asteras Tripolis to maintain league lead

Panathinaikos hosts Asteras Tripolis today, October 18, 2026, at 17:30 in the 7th round of the Stoiximan Super League. The "Greens," currently leading the table with 15 points, aim to recover from their recent league defeat against Olympiacos and build on their midweek 2-1 Conference League victory over Borac Banja Luka.

Coach Jacob Neestrup has named a 24-man squad for the match at OAKA, excluding the suspended Etienne Camara and Victor Kristiansen. The fixture will also serve as a tribute to the late Giorgos Vardinogiannis, who passed away at the age of 90. Additionally, the club plans to honor two players from the opposing team for their previous contributions to the organization.

This match is a critical part of a demanding schedule for Panathinaikos, which faces a dense calendar of games before the upcoming international break in November. Following today's domestic clash, the team prepares for a long-distance trip to Almaty to face Kairat on October 22 in their next European fixture.
