Cyprus to switch to winter time on October 25, 2026
Daylight saving time will end in Cyprus on Sunday, October 25, 2026, as the country transitions to winter time. At 04:00, clocks will be moved back one hour to 03:00, granting residents an additional hour of sleep. The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry has officially confirmed the change, noting that this adjustment is mandatory across all European Union member states under Directive 2000/84/EC.
While digital devices such as mobile phones and computers are expected to update automatically, manual adjustment will be required for analogue clocks. The transition results in earlier sunrises and earlier sunsets in the evenings. This measure was originally implemented to optimize the use of natural daylight and reduce overall electricity consumption.
The current legal framework ensures the continuation of this system, with the European Commission having already published the schedule for time changes through 2031. The next scheduled adjustment will occur on March 28, 2027, when clocks in Cyprus and Greece will move forward one hour at 03:00 to resume daylight saving time.
