Cyprus Sports Organization facilitates progress in motorsports governance
The Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) announced significant progress in resolving ongoing operational and governance disputes within the local motorsports sector. Since the current board took office in February 2024, the organization has acted as a mediator to ensure uninterrupted racing activities for athletes both domestically and abroad.
Following numerous meetings involving board members and stakeholders, a recent discussion held at the KOA headquarters resulted in notable points of convergence. This process included a high-level meeting with representatives from the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth. The primary objective of these negotiations is to stabilize the regulatory environment and improve the management of motor racing across the region.
In light of the tangible progress achieved, the KOA Board of Directors has decided to grant additional time for the involved parties to finalize their agreement. This extension is intended to allow for the resolution of remaining pending issues, ensuring that the consensus reached so far translates into a sustainable framework for the future of Cypriot motorsports.
