Cyprus statistical service reports rise in average and median wages for 2025
The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) released new data on October 19, 2026, revealing that gross monthly earnings for employees increased during 2025. The average gross monthly wage rose by 4.3% to €2,591, compared to €2,483 in 2024. Meanwhile, the median gross monthly income reached €1,953, reflecting a 3.8% increase from the €1,881 recorded the previous year.
The data highlights a significant gap between average and median earnings, with the average salary being roughly 33% higher than the median, largely due to high-earning individuals skewing the mean. Analysis of the workforce distribution shows that 13% of employees earn between €1,000 and €1,249, making it the most common salary bracket. Other common ranges include €1,500–€1,749 (11.4%) and €1,250–€1,499 (11.2%).
Disparities persist based on gender and industry. Women are more represented in the lower-paying brackets of €1,000–€1,249 and €1,250–€1,499. Conversely, men represent a higher share in the top earnings category of €6,000 and above. Sector-specific data indicates that financial and insurance activities remain at the top of the pay scale with an average of €5,038, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing recorded the lowest average at €956.
