Employee earnings in Cyprus see growth in 2025
According to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), employees in Cyprus experienced a rise in monthly earnings throughout 2025. The average gross monthly salary reached €2,591, marking a 4.3% increase from the €2,483 recorded in 2024. Simultaneously, the median gross monthly salary rose by 3.8%, reaching €1,953 compared to €1,881 in the previous year.
The data indicates that the largest share of the workforce, 13%, falls within the €1,000 to €1,249 monthly income bracket. Significant gender disparities persist in the distribution of earnings; women constitute a higher percentage of the lower-income categories, specifically exceeding men by 3.3 and 3.5 percentage points in the €1,000–€1,249 and €1,250–€1,499 brackets, respectively. Conversely, in the highest salary category of €6,000 and above, the proportion of men is 3.1 percentage points higher than that of women.
The statistical report underscores a gap between average and median earnings, with the average figure sitting approximately 33% higher than the median. This discrepancy suggests that a smaller group of high-income earners is pulling the mathematical average upward, providing a less accurate picture of the typical employee's remuneration.
