Memorial event planned for Moufflon bookshop owner Ruth Keshishian

An evening event titled “A Cascade of Messages for Ruth” is being held to honor the legacy of Ruth Keshishian, a central figure in Cyprus's cultural life and the long-time face of the Moufflon bookshop. Keshishian died suddenly in August 2025, leaving a profound impact on the local community through her dedication to literature and culture.

The event was initiated by heritage curator Yianna Tsolaki, who originally planned a neighborhood walk in Agios Andreas with Keshishian to explore personal and collective memories of the area. Although Keshishian passed away before the walk could take place, the concept has become the core of the memorial event. Tsolaki noted that they maintained frequent contact via email and phone during the months preceding Keshishian's death, often discussing intellectual topics and shared connections to the neighborhood.

The memorial serves as a final tribute to Keshishian’s intellectual contributions and her role in shaping the literary environment in Cyprus. The event focuses on sharing memories, narratives, and messages from those who knew her, effectively realizing the themes of the neighborhood exploration they had once envisioned together.
