Cristiano Ronaldo suspended and fined by Portuguese Football Federation
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has officially sanctioned 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo with a 30-day suspension and a fine of 255 euros. The disciplinary action was taken by the federation's Disciplinary Council after concluding that the team captain committed an intentional disciplinary breach, as defined under Article 160, paragraph 1, of its disciplinary regulations. The incident occurred on September 30, when Ronaldo abandoned the national team's camp in Copenhagen on the eve of a match against Denmark during the Nations League window.
Following the investigation, the federation confirmed that the charges were fully accepted. Despite the formal nature of the punishment, the financial penalty has garnered significant media attention due to the player's substantial earnings at Al Nassr. Reports indicate that the 255-euro fine represents approximately 0.00012% of his annual base salary, effectively meaning the penalty is covered by less than 40 seconds of his professional labor contract. Although reports attribute his departure to a conflict with coach Jorge Jesus, the player remains available for selection for the national team's next scheduled obligation on November 14.
