North Korea releases photos of Kim Jong Un to dispel health rumors

North Korean state media released images on Monday, October 19, 2026, showing the 42-year-old leader, Kim Jong Un, visiting an exhibition of light industry products, including clothing and footwear. During the visit, he was seen examining various items, such as children's shoes and women's coats, while interacting with officials. He was accompanied by his wife, Ri Sol Ju, and his daughter, Kim Ju Ae.

The publication of these photographs serves as an official response to widespread social media speculation that had surfaced days prior. Rumors claimed that the leader had suffered a severe brain hemorrhage, had fallen into a coma, or had died following an emergency medical evacuation to Beijing. By documenting his public activity at the industrial exhibition, the regime aims to project stability and debunk claims that Kim is incapacitated.

While state media reports that the visit occurred on Monday, the images have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear when exactly they were captured. The regime continues to use such media reports to counter international speculation regarding the leader's physical condition and the status of his health.
