Concerns regarding a 40 MW energy storage park in Alambra

During a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment held on October 14, residents and local authorities expressed strong concerns regarding a proposed 40 MW energy storage facility in the Alambra region. The project involves installing 23 large battery containers near licensed residential properties, raising significant alarms about safety, fire risks, and environmental impact. Local community representatives, supported by the Municipality of South Nicosia-Idali, are calling for the suspension of permits and a full environmental impact assessment before any construction begins.
