Father of late toddler Marios alleges medical negligence at Limassol General Hospital
Lenos Andreou, the father of a four-year-old boy named Marios, has publicly accused medical staff at Limassol General Hospital of professional negligence leading to his son's death. The child was admitted to the hospital on July 8 and subsequently transferred to Nicosia on July 16, where he was declared brain dead shortly thereafter. Following recent reports of alleged medical malpractice at the Oncology Center, Andreou broke his silence to demand stricter evaluation of doctors and clearer disciplinary procedures within the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY).
Andreou maintains that his son’s death was not the result of a simple human error, but rather systemic incompetence and irresponsibility. He expressed deep frustration that the medical personnel involved in the case continue to practice without facing any apparent disciplinary measures or suspensions. Motivated by both his own tragedy and ongoing news regarding similar medical incidents in the region, he is calling for a thorough investigation and the assignment of accountability. The father has indicated that he consulted with specialists and reviewed the hospital records extensively to substantiate his claims of negligence during the child's hospitalization period. He continues to press for authorities to address these allegations publicly.
