AEL president criticizes Cyprus Football Association for lack of transparency
On October 20, 2026, the president of AEL Limassol, Kostas Konstantinou, publicly criticized the Cyprus Football Association (KOP) following a meeting attended by club representatives and Antonio D'Amato. Konstantinou expressed strong dissatisfaction with the organization's transparency, specifically regarding a recent investigation report related to a complaint filed by his club.
The AEL president stated that the federation refuses to share the full content of the report with club presidents, calling the situation a "black veil" covering the association's operations. He argued that the federation selects which information to release to the media instead of providing full disclosure to the relevant stakeholders. Konstantinou emphasized that his club is not seeking financial gain or points, but rather accountability and transparency in the administrative processes of the federation.
Moving forward, AEL is calling on the Police and the Ethics Committee to intervene and obtain the requested documents. Konstantinou confirmed that the club does not intend to let the matter rest, noting that they are exploring further actions, including potential appeals to UEFA, to ensure that the facts behind the complaint are made public.
