Cyprus launches Aspis campaign to combat electronic fraud
The Digital Security Authority of Cyprus, the Cyprus Police’s Cybercrime Subdivision, and the Association of Cyprus Banks have announced a collaborative public awareness campaign named Aspis. Launched in October 2026, the initiative aims to build a protective shield against individuals and groups utilizing electronic methods to deceive citizens and organizations.
The campaign focuses on educating the public regarding common fraud techniques, such as methods used to gain unauthorized access to personal data, bank accounts, or schemes designed to extract money through fraudulent processes. The information provided is intended for the general public, with specific attention directed toward groups identified as frequent and vulnerable targets for cybercriminals.
This initiative marks the first joint communication from these organizations. The stakeholders have issued an appeal to media outlets to support the distribution of these security messages, emphasizing that as electronic transactions and communications become an increasingly integral part of daily life, public vigilance is necessary to prevent financial and data loss.
