Cyprus launches campaign to combat digital fraud
The Digital Security Authority, the Cyprus Police (Cybercrime Sub-division), and the Association of Cyprus Banks have launched the sixth annual Aspis campaign to protect citizens from electronic fraud. This initiative aims to establish a security shield by educating the public on common deceptive practices used by criminals to access personal data, bank accounts, and extract funds.
The campaign focuses on informing all citizens, particularly those deemed to be the most frequent and vulnerable targets. As digital transactions and electronic communications have become an integral part of daily life, the participating organizations emphasized that criminal methods are constantly evolving. Consequently, they highlight that continuous awareness and prevention are essential tools for safeguarding personal property.
The collaborating agencies have requested the support of the media to help disseminate information to the public. The banking sector remains committed to this ongoing effort, stressing that the protection of data, information, and financial transactions is a primary priority. The initiative serves as a preventive measure to combat the growing threats in the digital landscape.
