Capital Maritime Finance debuts on the Athens stock exchange
Capital Maritime Finance, a shipping company associated with Evangelos Marinakis, officially listed its shares on the Euronext Athens market this week. This event marks the first exclusive primary listing of a shipping firm on the Greek stock exchange, with the opening bell ceremony led by Irini Marinaki. The company issued 40 million new shares, priced at 7.50 euros each, successfully raising 300 million euros through the initial public offering (IPO). While local sources reported total funds gathered at 1.1 billion euros, official data specifies a market capitalization of 1.05 billion euros, with investor subscription demand exceeding available shares by 4.34 times.
Currently, the company operates 13 container vessels with a capacity of 27,891 TEU. The capital raised is intended to support a major fleet expansion, as the company has 23 new vessels under construction, which will add 120,874 TEU to its capacity. Upon completion of these deliveries, the fleet will total 36 ships, all secured by long-term charter agreements running through 2038. Company president Gerasimos Kalogiratos noted that the listing is a strategic milestone, reinforcing Athens' status as a globally recognized maritime hub.
