A 21-year-old woman in critical condition after emergency transport from Paros
A 21-year-old woman is currently in critical condition at the Tzaneio Hospital in Piraeus after being emergency transported from the island of Paros in the early hours of Wednesday. The woman is being treated in the intensive care unit under intubation due to a coma, the cause of which remains under investigation.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the woman may have been administered a substance known as a "date rape drug," although this has not been confirmed. A male friend of the patient has been arrested in Paros and is currently being interrogated regarding his potential role in providing the substance. Additionally, investigators are looking into the possibility of a drug overdose or a dangerous interaction between substances that could lead to severe physiological depression.
Police are also questioning another couple who were present with the patient and her friend at the time to clarify the sequence of events. Medical staff at the Tzaneio Hospital are providing continuous care as the investigation into the exact nature of the incident and the substances involved continues.
