Five men remanded in custody following violent armed robbery in Limassol
Five Syrian men aged 20 to 29 were remanded in custody for eight days by the Limassol District Court following an armed robbery at a residence in the Sfalangiotissa area on October 8. Investigators report that the suspects entered the home around 1:00 AM, then returned later to threaten the residents—a 36-year-old woman and her husband—with knives and a pistol. The intruders held the couple for 39 minutes, during which they bound the husband with tape and plastic ties and forced the wife to open a safe, stealing cash and gold jewelry valued at approximately €100,000.
Police successfully identified the suspects through surveillance footage from nearby properties, which captured the group purchasing adhesive tape at a kiosk shortly before the incident. Authorities also located the getaway vehicle in the Ypsonas area. Officials noted that some suspects may have previously worked at the targeted residence, suggesting prior knowledge of the layout. While five individuals are currently in custody, police are actively searching for two additional participants and one other individual of interest. The investigation is ongoing to recover the stolen property and the weapon used in the crime.
