Six suspects in custody following armed robbery in Limassol
In the early hours of October 8, 2026, a group of assailants carried out an armed robbery at a residence in the Sfalangiotissa area of Limassol. The perpetrators, brandishing knives and a pistol, restrained a 43-year-old husband with adhesive tape and plastic ties, forcing his 36-year-old wife to open a safe. The intruders stole approximately 5,000 euros, 1,000 US dollars, and gold jewellery valued at over 100,000 euros. CCTV footage revealed the suspects spent 39 minutes inside the home and had even visited the property earlier that same night.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested five Syrian nationals, aged 20, 24, 25, 27, and 29, who have been remanded for eight days. A sixth suspect, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on October 22 during a police operation that led to the recovery of stolen jewellery from an unsuspecting citizen's home; he faces charges of conspiracy and receiving stolen goods. Police are still actively searching for three additional suspects and continue to gather further witness statements to advance the case.
