Cyprus weather forecast: dust episodes and upcoming change in conditions
Cyprus is currently experiencing a period of intermittent dust episodes originating from Syria and Lebanon, according to the Department of Meteorology. Spokesperson Andreas Chrysanthou noted that while such frequent dust transport is unusual for this time of year, concentrations are expected to remain relatively low for the next few days. The weather has been characterized by clear skies and warm temperatures, with highs reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius in inland areas.
Looking ahead, meteorological conditions are expected to shift as a low-pressure system moves into the region starting Tuesday. While the current weekend remains mostly clear with only light dust and moderate winds, the outlook for mid-next week includes a higher probability of rainfall and potential thunderstorms. The department continues to monitor these atmospheric patterns, as the development of barometric systems remains somewhat uncertain for the latter half of the coming week. Temperatures are projected to see a slight decrease by Monday, returning closer to seasonal climatic averages after several days of slightly elevated warmth.
