ArtCargo festival continues in Nicosia with diverse performances
The ArtCargo festival in Nicosia enters its second week, featuring a series of contemporary circus performances and youth-oriented events across the city’s public spaces. On October 22 and 23, the Spanish duo ELELEI presents the performance 'Blindly' at Eleftheria Square, while the Nicosia Municipal Gardens host the final two showings of 'Parametric Deep' by Panos Malactos and ArtCargo, an innovative production that projects a dancer’s image onto a water mist screen.
Following these, Catalan artist Joan Català will perform 'Pelat' on October 23 at Eleftheria Square and October 24 at the old Town Hall, involving audience participation to explore themes of physical balance and collaboration. The festival's youth programming, supported by the VF Foundation and the Embassy of Japan, highlights 12-year-old Japanese slackline world champion Kanon Ito. Ito, the first girl to land a 'Rikuto flip' and a top-ranked freestyle trickliner, will perform on October 24 at 13:00 and 15:00, and October 25 at 17:00 in front of the old Nicosia City Hall. She will also conduct a public slackline workshop on October 25 at 13:00, accompanied by local performers and DJ sets as part of the youth program.
