Cyprus residential energy renovation grant scheme reaches funding limit
The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus announced the closure of the application process for the 'Save and Upgrade' residential scheme due to overwhelming demand. The initial budget allocated for the program was exhausted on the first day of submissions. To accommodate higher interest, the Ministry secured an additional €7.5 million in funding derived from savings from previous project calls, but these funds were also rapidly exceeded by the high volume of applications.
Following these developments, the Ministry decided to stop accepting new applications to comply with the project's terms. Authorities have initiated a process to evaluate the submissions based on the order of their receipt through the Grant Schemes System (SYSCHO). While new applications are no longer being accepted, the Ministry has taken steps to include waitlisted candidates to ensure maximum absorption of available funds and to assist as many eligible applicants as possible.
The initiative, originally announced on May 15, 2026, aimed to support homeowners in improving the energy efficiency of their residences. The evaluation process for those who successfully submitted their applications is currently underway, adhering to the established rules and provisions of the grant scheme.
