President Christodoulides meets with AIPAC leadership to discuss regional cooperation
President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, held a meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia with the leadership of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). The delegation was represented by outgoing president Dr. Bernard Kaminetsky and president-elect Yehuda Neuberger. The discussions focused on reinforcing the trilateral and multilateral relations between Cyprus, Israel, and the United States.
A primary topic was the acceleration of the 3+1 mechanism, which involves Cyprus, Greece, and Israel in cooperation with the United States. President Christodoulides briefed the AIPAC officials on his ongoing efforts to resume negotiations regarding the Cyprus problem from the point where they stalled during the Crans-Montana talks. Furthermore, both parties exchanged views on the regional security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the broader Middle East.
The AIPAC delegation reiterated its commitment to supporting Cyprus’s interests within American political circles. During their visit, the delegation also participated in a commemorative ceremony in Nicosia honoring Jewish refugees who were detained in Cyprus between 1946 and 1949. No specific follow-up actions or future meeting dates were announced following the conclusion of the talks.
