Four men found guilty of the 2023 premeditated murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos
The Limassol Permanent Criminal Court has delivered a unanimous guilty verdict against four men, aged 43, 46, 24, and 23, for the premeditated murder of 55-year-old Thanasis Kalogeropoulos. The crime occurred on October 30, 2023, in a parking lot near a beachfront restaurant on Amathus Avenue in Limassol, where the victim was shot multiple times while inside his vehicle.
The verdict, which exceeds 600 pages, was finalized after a trial involving 75 prosecution witnesses and 550 pieces of evidence. The defendants faced 11 joint charges, including conspiracy to murder, arson of a vehicle, and illegal possession of category A and B firearms and explosives. The 24-year-old defendant faced an additional charge of being an accessory after the fact.
The announcement of the verdict, which was initially delayed from September 9, was briefly interrupted on October 23 due to a lawyer's health emergency in the courtroom. Since the court found the men guilty of premeditated murder, they face mandatory life imprisonment. The defendants, who have been held in the Central Prisons since their arrest, are expected to receive their formal sentencing later today.
