Four convicted to life imprisonment for the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos
On October 23, 2026, the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court reached a final verdict in the 2023 murder case of 55-year-old businessman Thanasis Kalogeropoulos. The court unanimously found all four defendants—aged 43, 46, 24, and 23—guilty of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The verdict, which spans over 600 pages, was delivered after a trial involving 75 witnesses and 550 pieces of evidence.
The murder occurred on October 30, 2023, in a parking lot near a restaurant on Amathus Avenue in Limassol. Prosecutors stated that two of the defendants fired multiple shots at the victim while he sat in his vehicle, while the others acted as accomplices. The defendants faced 11 joint charges, including the possession and use of Category A and B firearms, explosives, and vehicle arson. One of the defendants also faced an additional charge of being an accessory after the fact.
Following the guilty verdict, the court sentenced all four men to life imprisonment for premeditated murder and nine years for conspiracy to murder, with the sentences to be served concurrently. The proceedings were briefly interrupted due to a lawyer suffering a fainting episode, but the court eventually concluded the sentencing the same day, marking the end of the high-profile case.
