Cyprus customs intercept 28,000 counterfeit condoms from Greece
On October 22, 2026, the Cyprus Customs Department intercepted a shipment of 28,000 counterfeit condoms arriving from Greece. The items were discovered during an inspection of a consolidated container that had been selected for diagnostic and physical screening based on a standard risk analysis. The cargo, which included goods for multiple recipients, was found to contain products that violated intellectual property rights of a well-known brand.
The owner of the company associated with the shipment reportedly admitted that the items were indeed imitations. Consequently, the customs authorities have seized the goods. The Limassol Customs office is currently conducting a further investigation into the case. It is expected that the products will be formally confiscated and subsequently destroyed in the coming days.
Following this discovery, the Customs Department has issued a public warning regarding the risks of using counterfeit medical products. They noted that such items do not adhere to the quality standards and manufacturing processes required for authentic goods, posing significant health risks to consumers.
