Tommy Robinson on trial for harassment of Daily Mail journalists
British activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is standing trial in London on charges of harassing two Daily Mail journalists, Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber. The legal proceedings center on events from the summer of 2024, when Robinson was vacationing in Cyprus. He is accused of inciting fear of violence against the reporters after they published details regarding his whereabouts during a period of widespread social unrest in the United Kingdom following the July 29, 2024, murders of three children in Southport.
During the trial, the 43-year-old activist admitted to hiring a private detective agency to locate the journalists' addresses. Robinson testified that his intent was to apply pressure on the reporters, claiming their coverage of his Cypriot holiday endangered his family, though he explicitly denied the charges of harassment and intimidation. Prosecution lawyers maintain that Robinson’s reaction to the articles was a calculated effort to threaten the individuals involved. The case continues as the court examines the nature of these confrontations and whether they constitute criminal harassment under British law.
