Larnaca records historic tourism growth in 2025
The Larnaca district in Cyprus achieved a historic tourism milestone in 2025, recording its highest number of overnight visitors since data collection began. According to the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) and official statistics, 698,247 tourists stayed in the region, representing a 15.4% market share of total tourist accommodations in the country.
This performance marks a significant upward trend, contrasting with historical figures such as the 119,600 visitors in 1985 and 363,300 in 2016. The United Kingdom remained the primary source market, followed closely by Israel. ETAP President Dinos Lefkaritis attributed this growth to the region's strengthening position on the Cypriot tourism map.
Moving forward, local authorities have announced a strategic shift toward quality over quantity. The focus will be on continuous improvement of the tourism product and the enhancement of service standards to attract high-spending visitors throughout the year, aiming to sustain the district's economic momentum.
