Larnaca municipal council presents 100 million euro development plan
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras presented a comprehensive development report detailing 30 infrastructure projects across the municipal districts of Larnaca, Livadia, and Voroklini. The projects, representing a total investment of approximately 100 million euros, encompass initiatives carried out between July 2024 and September 2026, as well as ongoing and planned developments scheduled for completion by 2030. The announcement took place during the inauguration of the newly remodeled Pattichion Municipal Park, which cost 6.7 million euros.
Completed projects highlighted in the report include the Pattichion Park, the restoration of the former Police Director's residence (1.35 million euros), and the new Municipal Elderly Care Home (4.5 million euros). Future landmark developments are aimed at preparing the city for its role as the European Capital of Culture in 2030. The centerpiece of this vision is a 35 million euro Arts Center designed by Foster + Partners at the "Land of Tomorrow" site, alongside a 5.3 million euro renovation of the Scala Theater to address structural issues.
The event was attended by government officials, including Minister of Agriculture Christos Senekis, and political party leaders. These projects reflect the municipality's strategic focus on urban renewal, expanding green spaces, and upgrading local cultural infrastructure to meet the standards required for the 2030 cultural events.
