Historic Eparch's House in Paphos hosts new municipal services
On October 19, 2026, the historic Eparch's House in Paphos officially opened its doors to house two municipal departments: the Cultural Service and the Civil Marriages Office. This move repurposes the iconic building, integrating it into the daily administration of the city while maintaining its architectural significance as a landmark of British colonial heritage.
The building, which once served as the residence for the British commander and later the Eparch of Paphos, has a long history of institutional use. In recent years, it has hosted various scientific and cultural initiatives, including projects by the Cyprus Institute and the European Capital of Culture organization, 'Paphos 2017'. The Municipality of Paphos stated that this new initiative aims to connect the city's rich historical identity with modern public services, allowing citizens to engage with their heritage during significant personal milestones, such as marriage ceremonies.
