Protaras hosts recent and upcoming aquatic sports events
The payabl. Protaras SwimRun 2026 took place on October 17 and 18, attracting 190 registered athletes, with nearly half coming from abroad. The event, supported by the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia, featured a combination of swimming and running to promote both athletic competition and tourism in the coastal region.
Building on this success, the area is set to host open-sea swimming competitions on October 24, 2026. This upcoming event includes segments of the Pancyprian Championship and international veteran races, organized by the Cyprus Swimming Federation in collaboration with the Municipality and sponsor Petrolina. Seven nautical clubs—from Constantia, Famagusta, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Nicosia, and Kyrenia—will participate. Specifically, the 5-kilometer races are expected to draw 21 male and 18 female participants, highlighting the region's increasing capacity to organize significant sporting events.
