Limassol hosts community event for the Neighborhood Watch program
Approximately 200 citizens attended an open event in Limassol on October 23, 2026, aimed at promoting the 'Neighborhood Watch' (Paratiritis tis Geitonias) program. The event was co-organized by the Cyprus Police and the Municipality of Limassol to encourage resident participation in crime prevention initiatives. Attendees included the Deputy Mayor of Limassol, municipal councilors, community leaders, and representatives from the Community and Bicycle Police units.
During the presentation, citizens were briefed on the objectives of the program, which focuses on fostering trust between authorities and the public to create a safer urban environment. Many participants registered as Neighborhood Watch members on-site. The program remains a key priority for the Local Council for the Prevention of Delinquency. Official reports highlighted that the initiative also aligns with a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Police and TRUST on October 24, 2025, which provides for joint awareness campaigns.
Those interested in joining can still register via the municipal website or by calling 25 348048. The active reinforcement of this institution is intended to ensure sustainable security and greater civic engagement in local safety measures.
