Nicosia to host fourth annual Blackened Goggles Challenge
The Nicosia Olympic Swimming Pool will host the fourth edition of the Blackened Goggles Challenge on Sunday, October 25, from 14:00 to 17:00. Organized by the non-profit organization Through My Eyes, founded by Paralympic gold medalist Karolina Pelendritou, the event aims to raise funds to support the community of people with visual impairments in Cyprus, specifically in collaboration with the School for the Blind.
The event invites participants aged five and older to experience swimming with specialized darkened goggles, simulating the experience of visually impaired athletes. Beyond the swimming challenge, the event features various family-oriented activities including Zumba, face painting, and a nutrition workshop hosted by Blue Island.
With the slogan "From Darkness to Light," the organization emphasizes empathy, equality, and inclusion. This initiative provides a platform for the public to better understand the daily challenges faced by individuals with visual disabilities. Interested participants can register for the event through the Ticketmaster Cyprus website to contribute to the charitable cause.
