New water reservoir inaugurated in Agios Athanasios, Limassol
On Friday, October 23, 2026, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos Senekis, officially inaugurated the new Sykamino water reservoir in the Agios Athanasios area of Limassol. The project is managed by the Limassol Water Supply and Sewerage Board (EOA Limassol).
The reservoir has a total capacity of 2,000 cubic meters and features two separate chambers, both of which are currently fully operational. The facility is designed to improve the local water infrastructure, ensuring a more stable water supply and better management of reserves. It also enhances the network's capacity to handle increased demand and potential emergency conditions, which is critical given the ongoing challenges posed by climate change and prolonged drought in the region.
Minister Senekis highlighted that this investment is essential for the quality of life and future growth of the region. He emphasized that the completion of the project serves as a practical demonstration of the benefits of strong local infrastructure management, strengthening Limassol's overall resilience for years to come.
