Cyprus police conduct nationwide security operations
Cyprus police conducted extensive, organized patrols across urban areas on the night of October 24-25, 2026, to prevent serious crime and ensure public safety. The operations resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals for various offenses, including illegal entry and stay in the Republic of Cyprus, theft, drug possession, unlawful property possession, and driving under the influence.
During the enforcement action, police stopped and checked 696 drivers and 161 passengers. Officers conducted 52 inspections of premises, issuing eight reports, and performed 317 traffic-related reports, 100 of which were for speeding. Furthermore, police administered 371 breathalyser tests—leading to 28 reports—and four drug-driving tests, which returned negative results. A total of 16 vehicles were impounded for further investigation.
Authorities stated that these proactive operations are part of a broader, ongoing strategy to combat crime and maintain public order. The police presence will remain intensified, with targeted daily actions planned to address criminality across the country.
