Cyprus weather set for major shift with rain and cooling
Cyprus is transitioning from a period of mild weather to a more unstable pattern due to the influence of low-pressure systems. As of October 27, 2026, the region is experiencing increased cloud cover with isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the northern, inland, and eastern parts of the island. Temperatures, which recently reached around 27°C to 29°C in inland areas, are forecast to drop significantly by Friday, potentially falling 5-6 degrees below seasonal averages.
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department, represented by Andreas Chrysanthou, warns that Wednesday and Thursday will be the most critical days. A new atmospheric disturbance moving from Romania through the Balkans toward the region is expected to bring heavy rainfall, localized thunderstorms, and the possibility of hail. These weather conditions may disrupt public events, including school parades scheduled for October 28. Authorities have advised citizens to remain vigilant as official weather warnings may be issued to address the potential for intense and prolonged phenomena.
