AEK Larnaca defeats Omonia in Cyprus League match

AEK Larnaca secured a 2-0 victory against Omonia on October 26, 2026, during the 7th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. Despite Omonia controlling the first half and creating significant scoring opportunities through Dionis and Montnor, they failed to convert their chances. AEK punished the visitors in the second half, with Bajic scoring in the 49th minute and a second goal following in the 69th minute, sealing the defeat for Henning Berg’s side.

Omonia faced significant personnel challenges during the match, including the forced substitution of Loic Nego due to injury in the 38th minute, which led to the debut of 21-year-old Giorgos Viktoros. Additionally, goalkeeper Fabiano returned to the league starting lineup for the first time in five months, replacing Kaminski. Post-match, manager Henning Berg acknowledged the team's fatigue from recent European commitments and highlighted defensive lapses as key factors in the result.

Following this match, Omonia remains concerned about its growing injury list, which includes Andreas Christou, who recently suffered a metatarsal fracture, and Coulibaly. The club is currently assessing the medical status of its players while preparing for upcoming fixtures.
