Anorthosis secures win under new coach Barak Itzhaki and clarifies Maniatis's future
Anorthosis Famagusta secured a 2-0 victory against Omonia Aradippou, marking a successful debut for new head coach Barak Itzhaki. The win, fueled by goals from Tosic in the 23rd minute and Rafael Lopes in stoppage time, provided a crucial psychological boost and moved the team off the bottom of the league table, ending a series of three consecutive defeats. This match also marked the first time this season that the club maintained a clean sheet.
Following the game, team spokesperson Charalambos Parpettas addressed reports concerning executive director Giannis Maniatis, who had been linked to a move to the Greek club Panionios. Parpettas categorically denied the rumors, stating that Maniatis is fully committed to his current role at Anorthosis and has expressed his happiness to remain with the club as long as the president desires his presence.
Despite the positive result, the club expressed grievances regarding officiating, specifically citing a missed second yellow card for an opponent and two disallowed goals. The team is now preparing for upcoming challenges against Aris in Limassol on November 1 and Omonia on November 8, as Itzhaki works to integrate his tactical approach and utilize the full potential of the squad.
