Recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza result in multiple casualties
On October 25 and 26, 2026, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip resulted in multiple civilian casualties. An initial drone strike on the Islamic University of Gaza in the northern sector killed three security guards and injured eight students, according to Palestinian sources and the Al-Shifa Hospital. While the Israeli military stated it targeted a Hamas member and attempted to deflect the strike, it did not clarify if the civilian casualties were unintentional. Following this, on October 26, another strike hit a displacement camp in Al-Mawasi, near Khan Yunis, killing three people, including a seven-year-old girl, as reported by the local civil defense agency and confirmed by the Nasser Hospital.
The Gaza Ministry of Education condemned the attacks, noting that ten students have been killed over the past ten days and highlighting the severe impact on educational institutions. The civil defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, reported a total of 11 deaths and over 50 injuries from various strikes within a 24-hour period. The Israeli military stated that it is currently reviewing the reports regarding the strike at the displacement camp in Al-Mawasi. As of now, hospital staff continue to treat the wounded, many of whom remain in critical condition.
