Between October 19 and 25, 2026, the Cyprus Police conducted a nationwide enforcement campaign targeting personal mobility devices (PMD) and cyclists. During the seven-day operation, officers recorded a total of 608 traffic violations across the road network.
Of the total citations, 534 were issued to users of personal mobility devices, such as e-scooters, and 74 to cyclists. Specific infractions included 230 instances of operating devices in prohibited areas, 168 cases of failing to wear a protective helmet, 120 cases of failing to wear a high-visibility vest, and 33 cases of cycling without proper lights. The remaining 57 violations were not categorized in detail by authorities.
This initiative was part of an ongoing effort to promote road safety and cultivate responsible driving behavior among all road users. The Cyprus Police stated that the primary objective of these intensive checks is to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents and improve overall road safety.
Authorities have announced that traffic enforcement operations will continue on a daily, round-the-clock basis across the entire country to ensure sustained compliance with existing regulations.
