Russia announces trilateral talks with Ukraine and the US in November
The Kremlin has announced that trilateral peace negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during the first half of November 2026. Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov stated that Russia is prepared to resume these talks after November 4, emphasizing that European participation is now considered essential for a potential settlement. Ushakov noted that previous attempts by the US administration, following the 2025 Anchorage summit between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, failed to exert sufficient influence over Kyiv to reach a peace agreement.
Despite the upcoming diplomatic engagement, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov clarified that the talks do not imply a cessation or slowdown of military operations. Both sides continue to conduct significant strikes against military-industrial targets. While the negotiations remain a priority, Moscow indicated it remains open to localized humanitarian ceasefires, similar to the one previously planned for the city of Oleshky. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the trilateral meeting is expected within the first two weeks of November.
