Limassol officials demand urgent infrastructure funding
On October 23, the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBE Lemesou), joined by local mayors and members of parliament, held a meeting to address grievances regarding the 2027 state budget. Stakeholders expressed significant concern over the insufficient allocation of development funds and persistent delays in executing previously announced infrastructure projects, which they argue are essential for the region's economic and social well-being.
A primary focus of the discussion was the worsening traffic congestion in the greater Limassol area. The representatives identified the Northern Bypass and its vertical connections as critical priority projects that require immediate action. They argued that the city cannot support continued development without substantial improvements to its road network.
To address these issues, the coalition plans to request a formal meeting with the President of Cyprus and relevant government ministers. They are pushing for the implementation of binding timelines for public works to ensure accountability and prevent further stagnation in regional infrastructure development.
