Cyprus Football Association disciplinary committee issues bans and penalties
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) Disciplinary Committee recently announced several sanctions following match-day incidents. In the Futsal league, AEK Larnaca player Kleovoulos Michail was banned for two matches and fined for unsportsmanlike conduct toward a referee during a game against Enosi Neon Latsion on October 15, 2026. Separately, Olympiacos Nicosia player Orestis Georgiou received a two-match ban for unsportsmanlike conduct toward an opponent following a U-19 match on October 17, 2026. A player from ALS Omonoia 29th of May also faces disciplinary actions for misconduct toward both an opponent and a match official.
APOEL has also been sanctioned following incidents during their away match against Pafos FC, involving racist chants and unauthorized fan pitch entry. The club was issued a one-match behind-closed-doors penalty and a ban on away fan attendance. While the decision is appealable, reports suggest APOEL may accept the punishment, likely serving the stadium ban during the October 28 cup match against Chalkanoras Idaliou. This would allow the club to host their 100th-anniversary celebration against Aris on November 8 with fans present. The away fan restriction will apply to the upcoming 8th-round league match against Omonoia Aradippou.
